Class Descriptions

YOUR-rhythmics - Discover the joys of music and experience music making in a stimulating environment. Your 16 month to 3-year-old will move, sing, listen and play instruments including drums, small bells, shakers and world instruments. Children attend with a parent, grandparent or other adult. Classes feature head teacher, Courtney Parker, and a pianist who improvises accompaniments in a variety of musical styles.
Cost for 10 week semester - $180 ($18 for drop-in)

Pre-School Music and Art - Both our art and music classes utilize play and children's own natural resources to explore their unique creative forms of expression.  This class is a separation class.  Parents/Caregiver will gradually separate during the first 2 weeks of classes. Students bring their own smocks. Classes feature head teacher, Courtney Parker, an art assistant and a pianist who improvises accompaniments in a variety of musical styles.
Cost for 12 week semester includes 12 classes and materials - $300 ($30 for drop-in)

Art Curriculum (45 minutes)

• Children create drawings, paintings, clay and wood sculptures, prints, and other projects.
• Media (such as tempera, fingerpaints, watercolors, markers, craypas, chalks, and collage materials) and art tools (including brushes, scrapers, rollers, and sponges) are explored.
• The classroom environment is artistically stimulating and encourages exploration, interaction, and discovery.

Music Curriculum (45 minutes) 

• Children explore music through creative movement, circle games, fingerplay, listening, singing and playing rhythm instruments
• Carefully selected repertoire of international folk songs, original songs, and classical excerpts.
• Plants the seeds for beginning notation, as well as phrasing, intonation, and eurhythmics.

 

 Classes are held at the Art Piano Studio in Saint Davids next to R5 Train Station.
